Pelicans Sign 2 Players
The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Zylan Cheatham and Miye Oni to 10-day contracts.
Perhaps it was predictable that New Orleans would elect to add players, as they currently have multiple players in health and safety protocols. Having these two now on the roster offers them more insurance in case of other players have to miss time, too.
Cheatham spent his rookie season with the Pelicans but only appeared in four contests. With them, he averaged 3.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. He has since signed two 10-day contracts this season - first with the Miami Heat and then the Utah Jazz. Yet, only played for five minutes in one game with the Jazz.
Oni played in 16 games with the Jazz this season. In them, he averaged 0.3 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in January but was immediately released from the team. Now, the 24-year-old will be getting another chance in the league by signing this contract with the Pelicans.
Overall, neither of these 10-day deals are massive, but it will be interesting to see how they perform from here.
