It has been reported that the Spurs were planning on doing this, but it had not officially occurred until now. With this news, teams can freely begin to pursue Dragic, as he of course will be a free agent.
Dragic was traded by the Toronto Raptors on deadline day to the Spurs. He only appeared in five games this season with the Raptors, where he averaged 8.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He stepped away from the team due to personal reasons but is expected to return to action once signed elsewhere.
Dragic's long NBA resume will attract several teams. In 872 games between the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Raptors, he has averaged 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. He also is a one-time All-Star, too.
It will be very interesting to see where Dragic ends up signing from here. With there being several teams expected to pursue him, it's hard to pick an exact frontrunner at this juncture.
