Trail Blazers Sign Forward To NBA Contract
The Portland Trail Blazers have signed Trendon Watford to a four-year, $5.8 million contract. The 21-year-old had been under a two-way deal but now has landed himself this nice promotion.
It's important to note that the final two seasons are non-guaranteed, however.
Watford has played a good amount with the Trail Blazers this season, so some may not have even realized that he had a two-way contract. In 33 contests with the team, he has averaged 4.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. With that, he has averaged 12.6 minutes per game, so he has gotten a bit of playing time coming off the bench. That's not bad at all when remembering that he went undrafted at the 2021 NBA draft. It's funny how quickly things can change.
At this point of the campaign, the Trail Blazers have a 25-34 record and are 10th in the Western Conference. They are four games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the 8th spot, so we will have to wait and see how they finish the year.
