Video: CJ McCollum Has Yet to Hear from Zion Williamson Since Trade
Usually when a trade goes down in major sports, the 'new' teammates reach out and welcome the new addition to their team. Especially if the team is supposed to be 'yours', because you're a #1 overall pick and the face of the franchise. Turns out that hasn't been the case at all in New Orleans as the newest Pelican, CJ McCollum has yet to hear a peep from Zion Williamson.
Anyone else find this odd? McCollum has appeared in five games since the trade from the Portland Trail Blazers and has yet to speak with Williamson. The All-Star confirmed the rumors in Cleveland on Saturday night at the 3-Point shootout. This lack of communication should be concerning to Pels' fans.
We know Williamson recently hit another setback with his injury so perhaps his attention is on his personal health and well being but regardless, be a good teammate and welcome your newest player, especially someone with a resume like McCollum's. Williamson had this to say about his latest injury set back:
As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult process for me. I know there’s work to be done in my recovery before I can safely return to the court, but I will continue to put in the time necessary so I can get back on the floor with my team and represent Pelicans fans and the city of New Orleans at the highest level.
