76ers Waive Big Man
The Philadelphia 76ers have waived Willie Cauley-Stein.
The 76ers needed to free up a roster spot for DeAndre Jordan, and Cauley-Stein is the player who became expendable because of this. The latter was under a 10-day contract, so at the end of the day, his departure does not necessarily have the biggest of impacts on the 76ers.
Cauley-Stein appeared in two games with the 76ers, where he averaged 1.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists. He averaged only three minutes, so he did not receive too many opportunities to shine during his 10-day contract. Yet, that doesn't mean that other teams won't be willing to give him a shot from here. He also played 18 games this season with the Dallas Mavericks. In them, he averaged 1.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.
Teams looking for more depth at the center position certainly could consider bringing in Cauley-Stein. He has a decent amount of NBA experience under his belt, so that helps his case. In 422 career games between the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Mavericks, and 76ers, he has averaged 8.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
