Bad Injury News For Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have suffered a big blow in their chase for Play-In positioning, after forward John Collins was diagnosed with a plantar fascia tear, as well as a bad finger injury. He is out indefinitely.

Collins had already missed 7 games within the last few weeks due to the foot injury. Not surprisingly, the painful plantar fascia tear has "prevented me more from wanting to put pressure on my foot," said Collins.

Dr. Jesse Morse explains how difficult Collins' plantar fascia injury can be to play on:

Collins is going for a second opinion on his foot—and his finger—before anything further is known about his possible return.

With 13 games to play, the 10th-place Hawks do have a 4-game lead on the Washington Wizards for the last play-in tournament spot, but are just 1/2 game back of the Charlotte Hornets for 9th, and only 1 1/2 games back of the Brooklyn Nets for 8th.
