Lakers Waive Another Player
With the Los Angeles Lakers bringing in Wenyen Gabriel on a two-way contract, they needed to open up a roster spot for him. Due to this, they have waived Sekou Doumbouya.
It was either going to be Doumbouya or Mason Jones waived, as they were the team's two-way players. Yet, they have elected to get rid of the former. Now, Gabriel can officially join the Lakers.
Doumbouya played in just two games with the Lakers this season. In them, he averaged 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds. He primarily played with the G League's South Bay Lakers, where he averaged 6.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 16 games.
Doumbouya will now be aiming to find a new home from here. In 96 career games between the Detroit Pistons and Lakers, he has averaged 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. Overall, his experience in the league is rather low, but perhaps the power forward will have the chance to build on his numbers if signed elsewhere.
Nevertheless, the Lakers have made multiple moves over the last few days. With the way they are struggling, we very well could see even more from here.
