"They Realize They CAN'T Win": James Worthy Destroys Lakers After Another Debacle

Losing to the worst team in the league was bad enough for the flailing Los Angeles Lakers. But then one of their own, a Laker legend, James Worthy, added insult to injury after their loss to the Houston Rockets, saying "we hit a new low tonight", among other things.

“I didn’t think that we could hit a new low, but we hit a new low tonight. The worst team in the league (the Rockets), to be able to dominate like they did in overtime, first four quarters (were) tough enough... They should be better than this... I think they realize they can’t win. They don’t feel like they can. This is what I’m seeing.

“They’re not dead on arrival, but they just don’t have that tenacity, they don’t have that will to work their way out of this, even to get to the play-in game... You would think they might be able to, with a healthy team, but it doesn’t seem like they believe in anything that they’re doing... Not good.” 

The Lakers are now 9 games under .500, and have lost 9 straight road games. They've lost 8 of their last 10 games, and only three games away from being out of the Play-In. And they have the toughest remaining schedule of any team in the league, while the team that could overtake them, the Portland Trail Blazers, have the easiest remaining schedule.
