55 Points For Durant Not Enough For Sliding Nets
Yes, Kevin Durant poured in 55 points for the Brooklyn Nets last night. Yes, it was a career-high. But it still wasn't enough as the Nets dropped a critical game against the Atlanta Hawks, and dropped into 10th spot in the East—the final play-in position.
KD called the Nets "undisciplined", as they sent the Hawks to the free throw line a whopping 49 times, compared to only 19 trips to the stripe themselves. "And it's not 'cause of the refs," said Durant afterwards. "It was because we're reaching and being undisciplined and just playing too aggressive."
Durant's teammate, Kyrie Irving, shot a woeful 12-for-32 from the floor, and was equally poor on the defensive end. but he's certainly not the only one taking any blame after this one.
On social media, Nets head coach Steve Nash is being roasted by fans.
Steve Nash needs to answer for what we saw in this game.

-Plays James Johnson 30+ minutes
-JJ-Blake-Drummond frontcourt?
-No Clax or Drummond until late 4th
-No Kessler in 4th with Hawks doubling off JJ
Horrendous coaching effort in all facets. Brooklyn drops another must-win.
STEVE NASH IS THE WORST COACH IN THE NBA, KD IS SAVING HIS CAREER AS A COACH. HE HAS NO BUSINESS HAVING A COACHING JOB AFTER THIS SEASON

Time is running out for Nash and the Nets to turn this around. Only four games left in the regular season.
With the win, the Hawks jumped the Nets, into the 8th spot. Teams that finish in the 7/8 spots in the play-in only have to win one game to get into the full playoffs, while teams in the 9/10 spots must win twice before qualifying.
