Nets Officially Sign Forward
After the Brooklyn Nets waived James Johnson earlier this week, it was expected that they would sign Kessler Edwards to a standard NBA contract. Now, the team has announced that they have done just that.
Edwards has spent this season under a two-way contract with the Nets. However, he has appeared in 47 games with the NBA squad, where he has averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. Overall, the 21-year-old rookie has done a solid job, so it makes sense that he has earned this promotion.
Due to this move, Edwards will now have the opportunity to play for the Nets during the postseason. He will be aiming to impress during it, as this new deal also comes with a team option for next season. Thus, he could find himself a permanent home in the NBA from here.
Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see how Edwards responds to this great chance. If he does well, expect to see the Nets keep him around for next season.
