Clippers Sign 3-And-D Man To 2-Year Extension
Just 23 games with the Los Angeles Clippers was enough for the team to know that Robert Covington was a keeper. Today the Clippers announced that they've signed the 3-and-D wing to a two-year extension.

The $24M deal averts unrestricted free agency this summer for the 31-year-old Covington. The Clippers acquired him at the trade deadline, along with Norman Powell, from the Portland Trail Blazers.
With the return of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George next season, Covington's continued presence gives the Clippers a vaunted defense. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Covington finished sixth in the NBA in deflections this season, and was the only player to register 90 steals and 90 blocks, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
In his 23-game stint in LA, Covington shot a blistering 45% from three-point land, averaging 10.4 points per game, along with 5.1 rebounds. In his 8-year career in the NBA, he averages 11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 36% from behind the arc.
