Leading Contenders For Hornets Coach Get 2nd Interviews
The Charlotte Hornets are buzzing right along in their search for a new head coach. There are now two current assistant coaches around the NBA who have advanced to the next stage, and will be getting second interviews: Kenny Atkinson and Darvin Ham.
Atkinson is currently busy helping head coach Steve Kerr with the Golden State Warriors, as they get set to host the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
Ham has a little more free time on his hands, as his Milwaukee Bucks were recently eliminated in Game 7 of the second round by the Boston Celtics. Ham has been an assistant for Mike Budenholzer since 2013.
Both Ham and Atkinson have interviewed for multiple head coaching gigs over the last few years, and both would be seeking their first run as bench boss.
Former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts will also be interviewing for the Hornets' job, while longtime offensive genius Mike D'Antoni is also thought to be a strong contender.
