Michael Jordan's Hornets Have Interviewed Former NBA Championship Coach
The Charlotte Hornets coaching search has taken them through many current assistant coaches around the league, and now, as their first round of interviews winds down, they've apparently also connected with former Los Angeles Lakers head coach, and 2020 NBA champion, Frank Vogel.
Charlotte is winding down the first round of the Hornets’ head coaching search, according to league sources, having flown to meet several coaches in person as opposed to over Zoom. Frank Vogel, the former Lakers head coach, is among Charlotte’s list of interviewed candidates.

Vogel took over the Lakers in 2019, and proceeded to lead them to the NBA title in the bubble in Orlando. Things didn't go as well in LA from there, however, as the Lakers finished 7th in the West in 2021, and out of the playoffs in 2022.
Overall, he has a 431-389 regular season record in his 11 years as a head coach, for a .526 winning percentage. His record in the playoffs is up a notch from there, at 49-39 (a .557 winning %) .
The Hornets have been busy in their head coaching search, already conducting interviews with NBA assistants Kenny Atkinson, Darvin Ham, Sean Sweeney, Charles Lee, and David Vanterpool. They've also talked with long-time veteran head coach Mike D’Antoni.
A couple of currently-employed head coaches are also on their radar, including Quin Snyder of the Utah Jazz, and Jerry Stackhouse at Vanderbilt University.
