NBA Rumors: 3 Cleveland Cavaliers Trade Targets For 2022-23 Season
The Cleveland Cavaliers surprised a lot of people in 2021-22 and the team is looking to acquire some more talent to take them over the hump for next season. According to LockedOnCavs host Evan Dammarell, look for Cleveland to explore the trade market with these three players in mind:
Gary Trent Jr, Toronto Raptors
The Raptors finished four wins better than the Cavs so it seems unlikely they would be doing business together, however both teams have something the other needs. Cleveland could benefit from the wing scoring and lock down defending of Gary Trent Jr, who averaged 18.3 points per game and 1.7 steals per game in 2021-22. The Raptors are in the market for a big man so we could potentially see a swap of Trent Jr for Lauri Markkanen, as Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley don't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Harrison Barnes, Sacramento Kings
The veteran wing averaged 16.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 2.4 apg, while starting 77 games for the Kings last season. The 29-year-old is entering the final season of his contract, which is paying him $18.3 million this upcoming season and a lot like Trent Jr, Barnes could supply the Cavs with some wing scoring and defending they could pair up nicely with Darius Garland and their young bigs. Again, Markkanen appears to be the piece moving out of the Land.
Malik Beasley, Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves will for sure be making changes this summer and Malik Beasley is the likely one leaving town. The 25-year-old has had his troubles off the court but appears to be getting things in order and his focus solely on the basketball court. Last season for the T-Wolves, Beasley averaged 12.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, and shot 38% from deep. Beasley filled in nicely in some spot starts and has the ability to heat up from down town on a nightly basis. He's signed for the next two seasons, would could be music to the ears of the Cavs. Markkanen would give Minny another big man to compliment Karl Anthony Towns. Cleveland wants to make a move, this one with the T-Wolves could gain some momentum this summer.
