Hornets Big Man Facing Felony Drug Charges
While still technically a Charlotte Hornet, big man Montrezl Harrell just made his impending free agency a bit more complicated. After being stopped by traffic police in Richmond, Kentucky, Harrell was slapped with a marijuana trafficking felony charge.

It was a routine stop, as police pulled him over for following the car in front of him too closely. Upon further inspection, the officers found three pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags in the car that he was driving.
In Kentucky, the charge of possessing or trafficking more than 8 ounces, and up to five pounds, carries with it a potential sentence of 1-to-5 years in prison, and fines up to $10,000.
Harrell has been on four teams in four seasons, and according to sources, stands to earn in the taxpayer mid-level exception range if he's signed in free agency—around $6M.
The 28-year-old averaged 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds this past season, split between the Washington Wizards and the Hornets.
