Jazz Interested In Former NBA Champion Player For Coaching Position
He has three championship rings as a player, and ties to Utah Jazz CEO Danny Ainge. All of this makes the latest Jazz head coaching candidate very intriguing. Sam Cassell will be interviewing for Utah's vacant bench boss gig.
The Utah Jazz are interviewing Philadelphia 76ers assistant Sam Cassell for their open head coaching job, sources tell me and @Tjonesonthenba. Cassell was part of the 2008 champion Celtics, constructed by now-Jazz CEO Danny Ainge, and has been an assistant coach since 2009.

As NBA Insider Shams Charania notes, Cassell was part of the 2008 champion Boston Celtics when Ainge was there, and he also won two rings at the beginning of his career, with the Houston Rockets.
Cassell has been an assistant coach in the league since 2009, following a 15-year career in which he averaged 15.7 points, with 6 assists for eight different teams. He was a longtime assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers under Doc Rivers from 2014-2020, until joining the Philadelphia 76ers staff, again under Rivers.
The Jazz are continuing their head coaching search after Quin Snyder decided to step down earlier this month.
