NBA Rumors: Knicks Now "Widely Expected" To Sign Jalen Brunson
As of Monday, word was that the New York Knicks and the incumbent Dallas Mavericks were running neck-and-neck in the sweepstakes to sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.
Now, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, it's "widely" expected that Brunson will go to the Knicks.
At this point, it's widely anticipated that Jalen Brunson will go to the Knicks on a four-year deal in excess of $100M. It remains to be seen how New York will clear the rest of the necessary cap space and whether the Mavs can work a sign-and-trade to recoup assets.

"At this point, it's widely anticipated that Jalen Brunson will go to the Knicks on a four-year deal in excess of $100M," wrote MacMahon.
As he also notes, however, that the Knicks will still need to clear the necessary cap space, which could come from the likes of waiving Taj Gibson, and possibly even trading center Nerlens Noel to a Western Conference team.
Also still to be determined is if the Mavericks can work with the Knicks to get a sign-and-trade done, so they don't lose Brunson for nothing.
It's a difficult decision for Brunson, who was part of a Western Conference Finalist team in Dallas, playing alongside one of the greatest players in the game in Luka Doncic. But in New York, he would have his father, Rick Brunson, as an assistant coach, and be joining team president Leon Rose, who was not only his first agent, but also is like 'family' to the Brunsons.
