NBA Rumors: Knicks To Give Impending Free Agent Center Multi-Year Deal
There's been a lot of head-scratching amongst New York Knicks fans and observers as to why there's been an apparent hesitancy on the part of New York to lock up its impending free agent Mitchell Robinson. They have until the end of the month before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
But NBA Insider Marc Stein says he has been "delivered the strongest rumbles I’ve heard to date that a new multiyear deal to keep Mitchell Robinson in New York is looming."
Obi Toppin and Mitchell Robinson shared the court for 327 minutes last year. In that time, the Knicks posted a net rating of +9.16, including a stellar 118.29 offensive rating. https://t.co/9o71B2U3rk

Meanwhile, Knicks Insider Ian Begley seems to agree.
"My read at the moment is that the club would feel comfortable matching an offer that’s in the neighborhood of the MLE (projected at $44.5 million over 4 years)."

Where do the Knicks stand on an extension with Mitchell Robinson? (via @IanBegley) https://t.co/JxH4Ly9nwA pic.twitter.com/VIVHQl4WzS
"My read on Robinson and the Knicks at the moment," writes Begley, "is that the club would feel comfortable matching an offer that’s in the neighborhood of the mid-level exception (projected at $44.5 million over four years)."
And while it sounds like Robinson is likely to be staying a Knick, Stein says the team is looking for takers for many other players, like Alec Burks, Kemba Walker and Nerlens Noel, as they look to clear cap space to make a run at Jalen Brunson.
