NBA Rumors: Nuggets Could Make 2 Guards Available For Trade
There are rumblings that the Denver Nuggets could make guards Monte Morris and Will Barton available on the trade block, according to Matt Moore of The Action Network.
The Nuggets are trying to build a championship-caliber roster around Nikola Jokic and are aiming for a title run next season as Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. return to full strength.
As seen with the numbers, Morris and Barton have been solid role players for Denver ever since they became a perennial playoff squad in the Nikola Jokic era. However, it seems like the Nuggets will want to go all-in by getting some upgrades in their backcourt and wing rotation.
Morris has steadily improved in his five seasons in Denver and has served as a reliable backup point guard for Jamal Murray. This past 2021-22 season, due to Murray's injury, the 26-year-old started 74 of 75 games and averaged a career-best 12.6 points and 4.4 assists.
Meanwhile, Barton has been with the Nuggets since 2015 and has been a solid wing option for Denver ever since. In seven and a half seasons, the 6-foot-6 wing has averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 479 career games as a member of the Nuggets.
