NBA Rumors: Wizards In Pursuit Of Veteran PG, Could Target Nuggets Backup
The Washington Wizards are reportedly in pursuit of acquiring a veteran point guard ahead of Thursday night's draft, per Joshua Robbins of The Athletic. One player they could target is Denver Nuggets backup PG Monte Morris.
At least several teams expect the Washington Wizards to enter draft day intent on trading for a veteran point guard, league sources said. One name to keep an eye on, sources tell @davidaldridgedc and me, is Denver's Monte Morris.

Nuggets reporter Mike Singer confirmed about hearing the rumor. But he did note that Denver isn't eager to part ways with the reliable point guard.
Additionally, he noted that several other teams are interested in trading for Morris. As such, the Nuggets could place a significant acting price on him.
With Jamal Murray sidelined the entire year, Morris took advantage and had his best season in 2021-22. In 75 games (74 starts), the 26-year-old averaged 12.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists — all career-highs.
Washington will be picking at 10th and 56th later tonight, but both don't seem to be reasonable assets to land Morris. The 10th pick is likely too high a price for the Wizards to do, while no. 56 has close to zero value for the Nuggets to even consider.
Aside from Morris, Washington is also reportedly interested in Pelicans guard Devonte Graham. New Orleans reportedly has placed the 27-year-old on the trade block.
