Ingram recently underwent successful surgery on his right fifth finger to address a flexion contracture. The surgery was performed on June 7, by Dr. Steven Shin at the Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles. Recovery timetable is approximately 6-8 weeks pic.twitter.com/sHoy4rJTNV
The surgery was on his right fifth finger to address a flexion contracture. And what, you may ask, is a flexion contracture? Sports injury expert Jeff Stotts explains.
A flexion contracture means the finger was bent and couldn’t be straightened. It can be the result of a ligament, muscle or tendon injury. Players like David Lee, George Hill, and Mike Bibby have all suffered a type of flexion contracture known as mallet finger. https://t.co/MqCJY6IvjZ

It essentially means, says Stotts, that the finger was bent and couldn’t be straightened. It can be the result of a ligament, muscle or tendon injury.
His recovery timeline shouldn't affect his readiness for training camp.
Ingram had another stellar season for the Pelicans, averaging 22.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and a career-high 5.6 assists. He stepped it up big-time in the playoffs, scoring 27 points a game, with 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists, while shooting 40% from three-point range.
