It's a five-year max deal, worth $215M for the two-time All-Star, with a player option in the 5th year. Earlier in the offseason, LaVine had said he wanted to enjoy being a free agent, and get courted and wined and dined, but it only took less than 24 hours for the Bulls' enticing max deal to convince him that the Windy City is where he belonged.
The best part of LaVine's re-signing in Chicago came with his own announcement of the signing on Instagram, with a hilarious Wolf Of Wall Street video.
LaVine averaged 24.4 points this past season, equalling his 5-year career mark with the Bulls, while grabbing 4.6 rebounds and handing out 4.5 assists. And at 39%, his excellent marksmanship from behind the three-point line remained steady with his career mark as well.
The Bulls started the last offseason with an opportunity to sign LaVine to an extension then, but the huge acquisitions of DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball left them unable to do so. But LaVine bought in big-time to the upgrades, and he was kept in the loop all along. That no doubt played large into today's agreement.
