NBA Rumors; "Multiple Teams" Showing Interest in Knicks Foward

Sometimes, buckets aren't everything. The man who once described his own play as "Ferocious. I’m gonna hit you. My job is to protect my teammates, set hard screens and just play ferocious" will have a lot of interest if he hits the open market.

NBA Insider Ian Begley says that "multiple teams have expressed interest in the New York Knicks' Taj Gibson during the free agency period." The Knicks could be forced to waive Gibson in order to free up cap space for their $105M signing of free agent Jalen Brunson. Gibson's $5.2M contract, notes Begley, is non-guaranteed for next season.

If the Knicks can work out a sign-and-trade with Brunson's former team, the Dallas Mavericks, perhaps they can retain Gibson, a coach Tom Thibodeau favorite.

The 37-year-old power forward averaged just 4.4. points and 4.4 rebounds in 18 minutes per game this past year, but as always, he did all the dirty work. His career marks are 9 points and 6.1 rebounds.
