NBA Rumors: Raptors "A Team To Look At" For Donovan Mitchell Trade

With the Utah Jazz seemingly feeling a little more urgency to get a deal done for Donovan Mitchell before training camp starts in late September, NBA Insiders Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps are keeping an eye on the Toronto Raptors as a strong suitor.

"The one team I think to look at is Toronto," said Bontemps. "They have all their picks, they have OG Anunoby, they have Gary Trent, they have some interesting players they could put in, salary-wise. And Masai Ujiri has shown a willingness to take a swing on guys in the past."

Assuming that Anunoby and Trent Jr. plus a couple of picks could get a deal done, Bontemps speaks glowingly about what the Raptors roster could look like.

"Certainly, if you put Donovan Mitchell with Scottie Barnes, and... Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet, say... That's a pretty damn good team in Toronto."

The Raptors do, indeed, own all of their own draft picks. But how many Masai Ujiri would be willing to put in a deal for Mitchell is in question. That doesn't mean, however, that Jazz CEO Danny Ainge couldn't turn around and find more first-rounders from a third team.

"If you're the Jazz, you could maybe think that you could then trade OG for another two firsts," said Windhorst.

All of this, however, comes with the caveat that the New York Knicks are still the front-runners here, and the ball, so to speak, is in their court.
