In his introductory press conference with the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell said he thought he was heading to the Knicks this offseason.

He also admits that he knew, early in the offseason, that a trade was coming, wherever it was.
"Once Rudy (Gobert) got traded, I kind of saw the writing on the wall. I think we all did... I had a feeling I was going to get moved."

"I was running around, crazy. Mainly when I figured out who we kept," referring to the fact that the Cavs didn't have to trade any of their core pieces, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. "I was like, wow, we've got a talented group."
