NBA Rumors: Isaiah Thomas Gets Workout With High Profile Team
The latest rumor was that he's one of several veterans who got a workout this week with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Sources: Two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers along with several players, including Armoni Brooks, Sharife Cooper, Mychal Mulder, and others, @hoopshype has learned. https://t.co/v9g5JjWmJF

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, others in the workouts included Armoni Brooks, Sharife Cooper, Mychal Mulder, and former lottery picks Shabazz Muhammad and Jeremy Lamb.
However, IT got word of the rumor and has since denied working out for his former team in LA:
No I didn’t workout for the lakers!!!! What SOURCE told you that?? Smh https://t.co/KY0mOZgY2j

The most notable part of the players who presumably did take part in the workouts, is that Brooks and Cooper are point guards, a part of the Lakers roster that's gotten pretty crowded lately, with the additions of Dennis Schröder and Patrick Beverley. More questions will undoubtedly arise about Russell Westbrook's status with the team. As we reported on yesterday, a piece in The Athletic this weekend stated that Russ's status in the starting lineup is now in doubt.
The former two-time All-Star Thomas, still one of the best free agent point guards remaining, for a reserve role, had a nice 17-game run with the Hornets late last season, providing leadership and scoring off the bench. He averaged 8.3 points in just 13 minutes per game, while firing from distance at a 39.7% clip.
He had spent four games with the Lakers on a 10-day contract earlier last season, averaging 9.3 points in 25 minutes per game. He also spent 17 games in Purple & Gold in the 2017-18 season. The 5'9" 33-year-old was an All-Star with the Boston Celtics in 2015-16 and '16-17, while averaging 24.7 points and 6 assists with the C's. Unfortunately, a devastating hip injury in the 2017 playoffs derailed his career from that point on. He's seen time with 7 different teams since then.
