Magic Guard Suffers Broken Toe

A bad break—literally—for the Orlando Magic as they get set to open training camp this coming week. They'll once again be without key backcourt player Markelle Fultz, this time for likely the entirety of camp.

Fultz suffered a fracture in his left big toe during a preseason workout. Thankfully, no surgery is required. He’s been placed in a walking boot and will just need some rest and rehab.

The 24-year-old's return to play "will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation and treatment," according to the Magic. But the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that he'll most likely miss all of training camp.

Fultz has missed a vast majority of the past two seasons (playing in 26 games total) for the Magic due to a torn ACL suffered in January of 2021. He played 18 games this past season with Orlando, averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 assists.

Overall, the former No. 1 overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft has had four of his five seasons in the NBA racked with injuries.

The Magic also lost guard Gary Harris this offseason with a torn meniscus.
