Pelicans Make Big Commitment To CJ McCollum

CJ McCollum came to the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline to add a veteran presence, leadership, and proven scoring from the backcourt. He provided all of that and more, and he's being rewarded with an extension.

The Pelicans have added 2 years and $64M to McCollum's existing contract, keeping him in The Big Easy through the 2025-26 season. His restructured deal is now worth 4-years, $133M.

The 31-year-old nine-year veteran brought a calming, professional presence to the Pelicans, helping lead them through the Play-In tournament and into a hard-fought six-game series with the No. 1 seeded Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.

McCollum averaged 24.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists after coming over to New Orleans in the trade. He joins a solid foundation on an up-and-coming Pelicans team.

With Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson and McCollum locked-up for at least the next three years, it is indeed an exciting time to be a Pelicans fan.
