"Beverley Took A Dive": Official Explains Overturned Call; Lakers Lose
It was almost too comical to be real. The Los Angeles Lakers were nursing a one-point lead on the Portland Trail Blazers with 21 seconds to play, Portland with the ball. Then Lakers guard Patrick Beverley flopped to the floor at midcourt after bumping into Portland center Jusuf Nurkic.
Nurkic was initially called for the offensive foul, but a coach's challenge overturned the call, and the official came to the scorer's table with the announcement:

"After replay review, the challenge is successful. Nurkic was in a legal screening position. And Beverley took a dive... Portland ball."
And then, on the next play, this happened:

DAMIAN LILLARD GIVES THE BLAZERS THE LEAD pic.twitter.com/gynmnc1duu
Lillard's big shot gave the Blazers the lead. The Lakers would tie it on a LeBron bucket, but Jerami Grant would then get to the rim for the winning bucket, and the Blazers' 11-2 run to finish the game sends the Lakers to their third straight loss to start the season.
And one of the funniest images to take from this game is Blazers coach Chauncey Billups telling LeBron during the replay review of the Pat Bev dive "all he wanna do is flop!”
