Sixers Waive G League MVP
Despite the 2021-22 G League MVP Award on his resume, for the third straight season, 25-year-old guard Trevelin Queen has been waived from an NBA training camp. The Philadelphia 76ers have trimmed their roster to 16 by cutting Trevelin.
The 6'6" guard averaged 25.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 19 games with the Rio Grand Valley Vipers of the G League this past year.
He had signed a two-year deal with the 76ers with a partial guarantee of $330,000. Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers waived him from training camp, and the year before, the Houston Rockets did the same.
The Rockets circled back last season, however, signing him to a two-way contract in December. He played 10 games, averaging 7.4 minutes per contest, with 4.3 points and 1.6 rebounds.
In five Summer League games for Philly this July, he averaged 13.4 points with 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
The move is a cost savings for the Sixers.
Brings Sixers down to 16 NBA contracts. Queen had $330k guaranteed, which would have become fully guaranteed on Jan 10th.
