The 29-year-old underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his thumb on Monday and should return within one month, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Schroder, who initially played for the Lakers in the 2020-21 season but declined a reported four-year, $84 million contract extension, returned to LA this past off-season on a one-year, $2.64 million deal after splitting his time last season with both the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.
The 11-year NBA veteran is looking to make an immediate impact on his old squad upon his return. He averaged 15.4 PPG, six assists, and one steal during his brief tenure with the Lakers.
