NBA Insider Shams Charania reports that the Nets plan to hire suspended Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka.
Udoka led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last season, but was at the center of a storm of controversy in the offseason, when it was revealed that he had inappropriate sexual relations with a Celtics' employee (and maybe more, though other details have yet to emerge). The Celtics suspended him for the entire season, but have allowed him to seek employment elsewhere.
The Nets have surrounded themselves in controversy constantly, between Kyrie Irving's divisive offcourt moves of promoting hateful, racist, antisemitic propaganda, to his decision last year to stay away from the team for most of the season due to vaccine choices. And let's not forget Kevin Durant's trade demand that permeated the entire summer in Brooklyn.
So why not bring in a coach who comes ready-made with his own controversy?
Stay tuned, the drama continues in Brooklyn.
