Stewart suffered a sprain of his right big toe in Monday night's loss to the Toronto Raptors, and will be re-evaluated in 14-to-21 days.
Stewart is averaging 12.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, both career highs in this, his third season.
During his absence, big men Marvin Bagley III, rookie Jalen Duren, and Nerlens Noel will see their floor time increase.
The Pistons have also been without Cade Cunningham, who has missed the last three games due to left shin soreness.
Coach Dwane Casey certainly needs all his charges for this team to be competitive; the Pistons are currently sitting at 3-12, last in the Eastern Conference, and losers of four straight.
