Raptors Get Terrible Injury News On Another Forward

Another bad injury break for the Toronto Raptors. Already playing without their best player and top 10 MVP candidate Pascal Siakam for a couple of weeks, they'll now have to make do without another of their 6'9" dynamic forwards for a while.

Precious Achiuwa has been diagnosed with partial ligament tears in his right ankle. He'll wear a walking boot for the next 10 days and is out "indefinitely".

Achiuwa limped off the court during Wednesday night's win over the Houston Rockets after going down hard under the basket while attempting to drive along the baseline.

The third-year forward hadn't quite gotten up to full speed yet this season, at least with his shooting, and was averaging 8.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists. The high point of his season came against his former team, the Miami Heat, when he pulled down 22 rebounds.

Veteran Thad Young is likely to see a lot more run in the absence of both Achiuwa and Siakam. Chris Boucher and Otto Porter Jr. as well will be counted on more heavily to pick up the slack, at both ends of the court. Achiuwa's defense—able to switch 1 through 5—will be greatly missed by the Raptors.
