Terrible Injury Blow For Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns fear forward Cam Johnson has suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee, sources tell me and @sam_amick. Testing so far indicates the meniscus injury, and Johnson is receiving further evaluations and imaging.

NBA Insider Shams Charania reports that the Suns say that Johnson will undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his right knee.
One report says that meniscus injuries can be treated in two ways: The less serious version involves a more minor surgery that removes the cartilage and allows the player to come back in 2-6 weeks. The more serious type of meniscus tear surgery requires a full repair and would keep the player out for 2-6 months. It remains to be seen what Johnson's injury specifically entails.
A repair preserves the cartilage but comes with a lengthy recovery process. A removal allows for a quicker return but increases the risk of long-term issues like osteoarthritis. Johnson previously underwent surgery for a meniscus tear in the opposite knee while at UNC.

It's especially troubling news for Johnson himself, who is in a contract year.
Sucks for Cam Johnson. Hate all injuries, but I really hate injuries during a contract year
