Timberwolves Sign Swingman After Hot Start in G League

The Minnesota Timberwolves have become the last team in the league to fill its final two-way spot, dipping into the G League to sign undrafted Canadian swingman AJ Lawson.

Lawson was in training camp with the T-Wolves and got in some preseason action. But he wasn't signed and headed to the G League where he was averaging 22.3 points in four games with the College Park Skyhawks, while adding 6.5 rebounds and shooting a sizzling 53% from three-point range.

Being on a two-way, he can only spend 50 games on the T-Wolves roster, so he'll likely get in some play with their G League affiliate as well, the Iowa Wolves.

The 6'6" Lawson is from Toronto, and spent a bit of time this past summer playing for the Guelph Nighthawks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. He averaged 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds duringg the 2021-22 last season with the Skyhawks in the G League after going undrafted out of South Carolina.
