The historic assist came in the 8:41 mark of the fourth quarter, a kick out dish to Anthony Davis in the right corner for a three-pointer that gave Los Angeles a 112-108 lead.
James wound up with 11 assists in the contest and now stands at 10,144 in the record books. Up next on the four-time NBA MVP's list are Mark Jackson and Steve Nash, who have 10,334 assists and 10,335 assists, respectively.
James' buddy Chris Paul is at No. 3 with 11,071 assists and counting, while current Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd is second with 12,091 career dimes. Way above at No. 1 is Utah Jazz legend John Stockton with 15,806 assists.
The King continues to chase historic records as he nears the end of his Hall of Fame career. One record that he is closing in on is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record which has stood for nearly three decades.
As of today, James is just 936 points away from Abdul-Jabbar, who finished his career with 38,387 total regular season points.
