NBA Rumors: Two Teams "To Watch Closely" In John Collins Trade Talk
With 88% of the league now available for trades, the John Collins rumors are making the rounds again. This time, according to NBA Insider Brett Siegel, there are two teams to keep an eye on:
Two teams to watch closely in regards to trade talks for John Collins are the Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns, as both of these teams have a clear need at the power forward position.
Certainly, the Suns' situation is obvious. With Jae Crowder still sitting at home waiting for a trade elsewhere, and Cam Johnson still on the shelf recovering from a torn meniscus, the team is in need of a power forward in the worst way. Putting Crowder and/or Johnson (who'll be a restricted free agent after the season) in a deal could be a possibility.
As for the Pacers, no one thought coming into the season that they'd be buyers, but here we are. The explosion of Tyrese Haliburton into a bonafide star, and the rookie sensation Benedict Mathurin, have elevated Indiana into a possible playoff team in the Eastern Conference. But they could still use some size and scoring up front at the power forward position. Collins could fill the bill.
Siegel posits the Pacers' ability to put together a package including the likes of Buddy Hield, Aaron Nesmith and Chris Duarte.
Only a week ago, several other teams were noted as pursuers of Collins as well, including the Brooklyn Nets.
