Boston Celtics Rule Jaylen Brown Out for Saturday's Game Against Charlotte Hornets
The Boston Celtics will be without one of their top stars for their Saturday showdown with the Charlotte Hornets. The team officially declared guard/forward Jaylen Brown out with right abductor tightness.
Brown is coming off a monster game against the New Orleans Pelicans in which he totalled a season-high 41 points and snatched 12 rebounds in a 125-114 win. He also missed Thursday night's 109-98 win over the Brooklyn Nets.#NEBHInjuryReport for tomorrow vs. Charlotte:
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) January 13, 2023
Malcolm Brogdon (personal reasons) - QUESTIONABLE
Jaylen Brown (right adductor tightness) - OUT
Danilo Gallinari (left knee ACL repair) - OUT
The Celtics are 31-12 on the season and hold a fairly commanding 3.0 game lead in the Eastern Conference standings, so they can afford to take it easy on their young star, particularly against the Hornets, who sport a conference-worst 11-32 record. Celtics coach Joe Mazzula suggested Brown could miss a week or two with his injury; it shouldn't become a long-term issue.
The Celtics face the Hornets twice in Charlotte before hosting the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. That game is probably the earliest Brown could return.
