NBA Rumors: Top 3 Trade Candidates From San Antonio Spurs

With so many 'buyers' on the NBA landscape, having a 'seller' like the San Antonio Spurs is a welcome sight for contenders looking to add a piece. The Spurs have no intentions of moving up much from their current standing deeply entrenched in the bottom four of the NBA, which gives them the best odds of winning the draft lottery, and presumably the rights to Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs are still $27.7M under the salary cap, which means they don't have to send out a comparable contract in a deal.

Watch for these three trade candidates from the Spurs as we approach the deadline on Feb. 9th:

Jakob Poeltl

The big Austrian has been in big demand as the deadline approaches. The Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics seem to be leading the charge, but other suitors are lurking as well.

The Spurs are said to want two first-rounders for the 7-footers, but he's on an expiring contract, and that's a stiff price to pay for two months of a rental. They're quite happy to hold on to him as well if they don't get their price, as they still could try to re-sign him in free agency.

Josh Richardson

The 7-year veteran is a valued 3-and-D wing, who also becomes a free agent this summer. He's averaging 11.2 points, 3.2 assists and 36% from distance this season. He's on an expiring $12M deal.

Doug McDermott

Another solid wing veteran, he's shot over 40% from three in five of the last six seasons, including a 41.6% mark this year, with 10.3 and 2.5 rebounds in about 20 minutes per game. He's still under contract through the 2023-2024 season at $13.75M per year.
