Gilgeous-Alexander also hit all 16 of his free throws while adding eight rebounds and six assists. The big night boosted his per-game season averages to a hefty 31.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on .504 shooting. Perhaps no other player in the NBA has taken as big a leap forward as SGA.
At 19-23, the Thunder are still in the throes of yet another rebuilding season, but they've finally hit on something in Gilgeous-Alexander. He may single-handedly keep the team out of a top spot in the lottery. Unless the Thunder tank like they've never tanked and stumble into premier draft prospects Victor Wembanyama or Scoot Henderson, Gilgeous-Alexander could be the cornerstone of the Thunder's future.
The Thunder visit the Chicago Bulls Friday night.
