Dallas Mavericks Re-Sign Forward

Now that the trade deadline madness is done, teams around the league can get back to the normal business at hand. One of those items is deciding on depth pieces. With that, the Dallas Mavericks have handed forward Chris Silva his second 10-day contract.

The 6'8" power forward only got into one game, three minutes, in his first 10-day, but the Mavs are willing to roll with him for a second stint. After the second such short-term contract, the team must decide whether to either sign him for the rest of the season, or release him back into free agency.

Silva, 26, began the year with the G League’s College Park Skyhawks, where he averaged 13.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 18 Showcase Cup games. He shot 58% from the floor. Blocked shots are one of Silva's calling cards.

He had a strong season last year in the G League as well, registering 15.1 points and 9.8 rebounds in 25 minutes per game with the Iowa Wolves.

Silva had spent parts of three previous seasons in the NBA, with the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves. In 70 games overall, he's gotten into 7.6 minutes per contest, with 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds.
