NBA Rumors: 2 West Contenders Emerge As Finalists In Pursuit Of Rockets' Eric Gordon
After 15 years in the NBA, Eric Gordon is running out of chances to have a shot at a ring. Perhaps a trade at this year's deadline could be one of his last chances. According to a report, two contender-hopefuls in the Western Conference have emerged as the leading suitors for Gordon.
The Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers are the most recent teams to express interest in dealing for Eric Gordon, per @KellyIko.

Houston Rockets' beat writer Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports:
This week, the list of teams with serious interest in acquiring the former Sixth Man of the Year has been whittled down to a handful of contenders — including the LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns — according to multiple league sources who were all granted anonymity in this piece to speak freely.
Houston knows Gordon’s position on this matter. He’s made his preference for a trade known to management at different points starting as far back as last offseason, sources said — but has been professional and played his role throughout his time in a Rockets uniform.
Gordon has always been a professional, to be sure. This season, he's wished—out loud—that his young Rockets teammates could exhibit some professionalism and play the right way. Even head coach Stephen Silas blew up at his young charges this week.
Both the Clippers and Suns are looking for some help in the backcourt, and Gordon, even though he's averaging a career-low 13.2 points, would provide a good, stable presence.
For two trade deadlines in a row now, however, the Rockets' front office has indicated they'd be fine hanging onto Gordon if the right offer doesn't come along. They want a first-round pick, or something equivalent.
"If a team comes in offering either a future first-round pick, an interesting young player or another defensive-minded veteran on team-friendly money who could kickstart their climb back up the ladder, Gordon’s days as a Rocket would be over," writes Iko.
But if he isn't dealt, rival teams shouldn't expect a buyout. That, according to all sources, won't be happening.
