NBA Rumors: 8 Suitors Lined Up For OG Anunoby
Just a day and a half until the trade deadline, and there are still reportedly no less than eight teams trying to pry 3-and-D beast OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, this is the list of teams still in on Anunoby:
- New Orleans Pelicans
- Memphis Grizzlies
- New York Knicks
- Indiana Pacers
- Portland Trail Blazers
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Phoenix Suns
- Brooklyn Nets
The Raptors, sources said, have communicated asking prices for Anunoby that rival front offices feel are quite steep. There appears varying interest in the talented 24-year-old wing, who emerged as an early-season Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
Anunoby, 24, leads the NBA in steals, at 2.1, and in deflections, at 3.9. He can guard one through five, if needed, and can hit the corner three. He's averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 36.6% from three-point range.
Adding Anunoby could push many of the above teams into true contender territory.
But also, as Fischer has noted, the uncertainty over Kevin Durant's trade status, either now or in the summer, could push some teams, in particular teams that think they could land KD in the event he gets traded, to back off on their OG offers. On the aforementioned list, that would apply mainly to the Suns, and possibly even the Raptors themselves.
