NBA Rumors: Lakers & Hornets Talking Huge Trade

Although it's sort of been under the radar recently (as under the radar as Russell Westbrook can be), the Los Angeles Lakers are apparently still canvassing the league looking to move their sixth man and one of his backcourt mates, in efforts to improve the team roster and chemistry.

According to Insider Sam Amico of Hoops Wire:

The Lakers continue to search for trades centered on guards Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley. They have been in contact with the (Charlotte) Hornets lately, sources said.

But Amico isn't the only one figuring the Lakers have a big move still to come before the trade deadline next week.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reported this week on his #thisleague podcast with fellow insider Marc Stein, that Lakers GM Rob Pelinka could still have another move or two up his sleeve to improve the roster. "I don't believe in this Lakers squad the way it's constructed," said Haynes.

As for the Hornets, they have been linked to the possibility of taking on Westbrook many times since the season began. Sitting in 14th spot in the Eastern Conference, it's a lost season in Charlotte, and they might very well be willing to take on the expiring contracts of Russ and Pat Bev along with some draft capital in exchange for one of their veteran assets. And they have a few they're willing to deal, which could add perhaps some scoring or some size to the Lakers roster.
