Revealed: The Boston Celtics Offer For Poeltl That The Spurs Turned Down

The Boston Celtics were said to be hot on the trail of center Jakob Poeltl. They were bidding against the Toronto Raptors, and came up short. Here is the offer from Boston that the Spurs turned down:

According to Brian Robb of MassLive, the Celts offered Payton Pritchard, Danilo Gallinari and multiple future second-round picks, but the Spurs Spurs elected to go with the Raptors’ offer which was highlighted by a top-6 protected first-round pick in 2024.

Pritchard still has a lot of interest around the league, and he himself has already said that it's time for him to move on, with his sparse playing time this season. “Obviously after I’m done here, after this year, I’d like to look — be a part of a bigger role a little bit," Pritchard said recently.

Gallinari, of course, is out for the season recovering from a torn ACL. But he has a player option for $6.8M next season, not something the rebuilding Spurs would want to be burneded with.

Besides, it would be tough to top the surprising first-round pick that the Raptors surrendered, only top-6 protected.

Poeltl is averaging 12.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Spurs this season and becomes a free agent this summer.
