Shams Report: 2 New Teams Now In On OG Anunoby

Although OG Anunoby is on the shelf for another week nursing a wrist sprain, it's apparent that trade talk surrounding the Toronto Raptors 3-and-D star wing will not be dying down. According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, two new clubs are teams to "pay attention to."

"I'm told the Suns, the Knicks, they're still teams to look at. But I would also pay attention to the (New Orleans) Pelicans and the (Indiana) Pacers. They've also registered some interest in OG Anunoby from what I've been told. So there's a group of four or five teams that will continue to be involved as we get closer to the Feb. 9th trade deadline."

With three big-time scorers already on the roster, the Pelicans could view Anunoby's wing defense as the final piece of the puzzle — once all their puzzle pieces are healthy and in place — to making a deep run in the Western Conference playoffs.

The Pacers are in a rebuild, and at just 25, Anunoby could certainly be a big part of the future of wherever he winds up.

The Knicks, according to Ian Begley of SNY, were "comfortable" offering three first-round picks for OG, as they communicated to the Raptors earlier this season. It's unknown what, if any, kind of protections are on those picks, or if the offer has changed at all from its original form.

We've also heard this week that the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns have stepped up their interest in Toronto's 6th-year forward.

Anunoby, 25, is the NBA leader in steals and deflections this season, and overall is averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 45 games.

He'll be sitting out at least the remaining three games of the Raptors' critical 7-game road trip out west.

But the trade offers will clearly keep on coming.
