Toronto Raptors Sign Swingman To Multi-Year Deal
The Toronto Raptors need shooting. That's a given. The team ranks 27th in the NBA in three-point shooting at 33.6%. And in his short tenure and limited minutes with the team, one thing that swingman Joe Wieskamp has shown, is that he can shoot from distance. Today, the team rewarded him with a multi-year deal.

The 6'6" wing is coming off two 10-day contracts, and teams must decide after that point whether to sign a player to a full contract or release him.
The 23-year-old has only gotten into two games in his stint in Toronto thus far, but he's made three of his four attempts from long range, and they've seemed effortless. In 19 games in the G League this season, for the Raptors 905 and the Wisconsin Herd, he's averaged 16.7 points on 41.2% shooting on threes. In his one game with the Raptors' affiliate, he made 4-of-6 from downtown and scored 19 points while adding seven rebounds.
This likely takes the Raptors out of the buyout market. Their roster is now full, and while they could clear a spot (and have the $3M Porter exception), they are quite close to the luxury tax line now.

Wieskamp fills the Raptors' last roster spot, so the team will likely be a non-factor in the buyout market. As noted by Blake Murphy of Sportsnet, the team is now very close to the luxury tax line.
