Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal to Miss Saturday's Matchup with Brooklyn Nets

The Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets face off Saturday night in a game that looks like it will be short on star power. The Wizards declared their leading scorer Bradley Beal out with left foot soreness. Luckily for the Wizards, the Nets will be without Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving tonight, and Kevin Durant remains unavailable due to a sprained knee.

The Wizards are in the second night of a back-to-back, so Beal being inactive shouldn't raise too much alarm. Still, considering the three-time All Star has already missed 20 of a possible 51 games, any lingering injury (or even discomfort) is a cause for concern.

Beal leads the Wizards this season with his 22.4 points per game, but it's still been a somewhat underwhelming campaign for the guard. His points per game are his lowest since the 2015-16 season, and his Wizards are a mediocre 24-27 with little chance of making a meaningful impact in the postseason. 2022-23 is shaping up to be yet another forgettable season for the Wizards; the franchise hasn't won a playoff series since 2017-18.

Following tonight's game against the Nets, the Wizards will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.
