Chicago Bulls Sign G League's Leading Scorer To Standard Contract

The Chicago Bulls are rewarding a G Leaguer who's had a strong season for their Windy City Bulls affiliate, taking the two-way deal of 6'1" guard Carlik Jones and converting it to a full contract for the balance of the NBA season.

Jones, 25, is the G League's leading scorer at 26 points per game, and took home Player of the Month honors for February. The lead guard is also averaging 7.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 4.4 rebounds. He's shooting 49.2% from the field on volume, taking just over 19 shots per game. He's hitting on threes at a 35% clip.

He'll replace the departed Goran Dragic on the Bulls roster; the 15-year veteran was waived last week in order to give him yet another chance to hook up with a title contender. That, he has done.

Jones went undrafted last season out of Louisville, and hooked up for a couple of 10-day hardship contracts with the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks. He spent the Summer League with the Bulls entry, and has spent almost the entire season in the G League.
